More realistic in many respects than MSTS, especially in terms of train operations and physics. ![]() Doesn't have the limitations of MSTS in terms of graphics, numbers of objects, need for zero-point nodes, etc.Works with modern Windows versions and all modern graphics cards as-is.(For the Gomez Addams types out there.) Displays train crashes.Still needed for certain editors (Route, Activity) when developing content for Open Rails.Has always been subject to unexplained or even just random errors using it in a newer OS hasn't changed that.difficult to impossible to use with AMD graphics in Windows 8 & 10. Has strange hardware sensitivities - i.e.Requires a 3rd-party update (MSTS-Bin) to run most equipment and routes released since about 2008.Requires "demon tweaks" to run in Windows 7 and later (probably Vista and later) that are documented in the fan community but nowhere else.Officially not compatible with any version of Windows since XP (maybe Vista).Effectively abandonware, but closed-source and the owner is still around and has lawyers. Some key differences as I see them, assuming one is using a relatively modern (post-XP) version of Windows: ![]()
